Are you a writer, author, poet, artist, photographer or other kind of creative person? Are you unsure about the best kind of online presence for you? Perhaps you’re unconvinced about blogging, Twitter, Facebook or social media generally?

I’ve done a lot of teaching of social media in the past – for lovely people such as New Writing South, London Metropolitan University and corporate clients. Trouble is, doing a course is great – but once you get back into your day-to-day routine, you forget things, you lose motivation, and you really need regular nudges to get you back into it.

So I started a regular email newsletter for my former students and anyone else in the same boat. It then morphed into this blog, where from 2014 – 2016 I posted regular tutorials and ‘know how’ stuff.

Although I no longer update it, I am now revising the content and creating a series of ebooks. The first of these are How to Use Twitter (May 2016) and Get More Out of Twitter (February 2017).

A bit more about me

I’ve been a marketer since the early 1990s and I’ve been working (and living and breathing) the internet since about 1997. That’s about 500 years in internet terms, although I hope I don’t look that old!

For the last few years I’ve been teaching and mentoring writers on how to navigate the choppy social media waters, how to find the time and love it. I’m the author of two ‘how to’  books about blogging. The first, Blogging for Creatives, came out in 2012 and is now a bestseller.

Robin Houghton, writer

In November 2014 my second commissioned book was launched, published by Ilex Press in the UK and F+W HOW books in the US. It’s called Blogging for Writers, and it’s full of step-by-step instructions, real writers’ stories, tips from the experts, screenshots and general wonderfulness.
